With so many skincare options on the market, it’s hard to tell which ingredients you should look for when you read the labels. It can be overwhelming when you need a new cleanser and you find yourself staring at 44 options on the shelves! Not all products are created equal. You should be looking for skincare products that are gentle, yet effective. Effective ingredients make effective products. We’ve compiled some of our favorite ingredients, so you’ll have a quick guide next time you are shopping for new skincare products.

1. Fermented Green Tea

Green tea helps reduce the appearance of sun damage such as hyperpigmentation, rough texture, and fine lines. Tea fermentation has a long and rich history in Korea. Koreans create fermented tea water through a two-phase process using traditional natural and lactic acid fermentation techniques to yield the finest result for more potent ingredient levels. Fermented green tea water cleanses, moisturizes, brightens, firms, and sustains skin in the face of various daily challenges.1

2. Centella asciatica

This leafy plant is a staple if you have sensitive skin. Centella asciatica helps boost collagen production, encourages skin hydration, and even acts as an antioxidant. Centella asciatica is rich in fatty and amino acids, provides great corrective benefits, and promotes the look of skin firmness and elasticity.2

3. Hyaluronic Acid

This ingredient provides intense and sustained moisture by drawing water to the skin’s surface and holding it there. This supports skin against a barrage of environmental threats and invigorates your complexion. This awesome acid also provides an antioxidant defense against environmental stressors.3

4. Niacinamide

This Korean ingredient refines and brightens the complexion to even out blotchy-looking skin and creates a glasslike look and texture. It also minimizes redness and appearances of pores. Niacinamide can also protect against oxidative stress, which can come from pollution, sun damage, and toxins.

5. Sodium Hyaluronate

This ingredient provides a salt form of hyaluronic acid (an effective moisture-attracting molecule) and is considered even more beneficial to skin’s moisture levels than pure hyaluronic acid due to its excellent ability to work with other skincare ingredients. It also improves the overall structure of your skin.3

Bonus ingredient: If you’re looking for a sunscreen, look for an ingredient called zinc oxide. This ingredient helps protect your skin against UV rays, mostly UVA rays.

Skincare can feel complicated, but it doesn’t have to be! Do your research before you invest in a product. And remember: products take time to work. Love your skin and treat it with the right ingredients and it will love you back!
