One of the major trends in health food right now is protein pancakes—protein everything, if we’re being honest. A lot of people have been skeptical about trying them. You might be wondering, too: Will protein pancakes taste as good as regular pancakes? Will they still be fluffy?

Well, you’ll just have to make them to find out!


The good news is you can have your soft, fluffy pancakes and your protein, too, with these recipes!


Banana Protein Pancakes:

  • 1 cup rolled oats, uncooked
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup egg whites
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp sea salt
  • 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup vanilla protein powder
  • 2 tbsp flaxseed meal

Directions:

Heat a lightly oiled griddle over medium heat. Mash banana and mix all ingredients in a bowl, and then cook until lightly browned.

Toppings:

  • 1 sliced banana, for garnish
  • Pure maple syrup

Chocolate Protein Pancakes:

  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 3/4 cup rolled oats, uncooked
  • 1/4 cup chocolate protein powder
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Directions:

Heat a lightly oiled griddle over medium heat. Mash bananas and mix all other ingredients in a bowl, and then cook until lightly browned.

Toppings:

  • Raspberries, for garnish
  • Pure maple syrup

Also, remember to choose a protein powder you actually like. It will make your pancakes taste better. Try different kinds of proteins. There are plenty of protein sample packets out there, whether you find them at your local health food store or online. You have lots of choices and you don’t have to spend a bunch of money on something you hate. Plus, if it’s going in your pancakes, you want it to taste good and be nutritious.
